What is Industrial Maintenance?
Industrial Maintenance consists of a set of operational, technical, and administrative practices aimed at maintaining, replacing, or repairing parts or equipment that perform a function in industrial production processes.
Industrial Maintenance is essential as it ensures worker safety, productivity, and quality of work life, contributing to better working conditions.
There are various types of industrial maintenance, but there are three types that are generally considered:
- Predictive Maintenance
- Preventive Maintenance
- Corrective Maintenance
Predictive Maintenance
Predictive Maintenance is a proactive maintenance strategy aimed at preventing breakdowns. This type of maintenance involves the analysis of data and predefined predictive algorithms, which estimate when a failure is likely to occur. Maintenance activities are then scheduled based on these predictions.
Preventive Maintenance
Preventive Maintenance consists of interventions that prevent breakdowns and reduce the likelihood of equipment failure. In other words, it is a planned type of maintenance carried out even when the equipment is still operational.
Corrective Maintenance
Corrective Maintenance is the technical activity performed after a failure occurs, with the objective of repairing the equipment to restore its intended functionality, either through repair or by replacing components or the entire unit.
