ELESA's SAN-Antimicrobial Line

Linha SAN - Elesa+Ganter

Finding a solution that is really effective in the elimination of bacteria can be a very challenging task for companies. Microbes have great resistance to antibiotic products and drugs, which can often result in infections that are difficult to control. In order to minimize this problem, Elesa has decided to extend its "SAN- Antimicrobial" range.

The whole line SAN is made in a special technopolymer with additives of silver ions on an inorganic basis that manages to prevent the development of microorganisms and thus prevent the spread of microbes and bacteria.

The silver ions have antimicrobial characteristics that neither wear out or get lost with successive washes and disinfections, guaranteeing the success of the line in the following way:

  1. They break the wall of the microbial cell

  2. Interrupt intracellular enzymes

  3. They attack the microbe's DNA to stop cell replication

Knobs, handles, and nuts are some of the products that make up the SAN line and all are available in RAL 7021 (grey-black) or RAL 9016 (white) technopolymer. The line has been developed for the most demanding sectors and where there is a greater tendency to bacterial spread, such as medical and hospital equipment, rehabilitation aids, pharmaceutical machines, and urban and public equipment.

All the components of the SAN-Antimicrobial line comply with the Declaration of Conformity "Antimicrobial Properties of Materials".

    Laboratory tests

To confirm the resistance of these products to the different bacteria, tests with different bacterial organisms with a high degree of resistance were performed. The results obtained revealed that in only 24 hours the products of the SAN line are able to eliminate 98,9 % of the bacteria. Below, we show you the antimicrobial activity of the products when exposed to each of the bacteria analyzed:

    1. Staphylococcus Aureus ATCC® 25923™ - Antimicrobial activity of 99.9%

This bacterium causes acute infections that can be located in different parts of the body, such as the skin, skeletal system, respiratory system, urinary system and central nervous system. They have a high resistance to antibiotic drugs and therefore prove to be a major problem for public health.

      2. Escherichia Coli ATCC® 25922™ - Antimicrobial activity of 99.9%

The presence of this bacteria in water bodies indicates the presence of contamination. It can cause infections in the intestinal and urinary system and sometimes also causes meningitis.

        3. Klebsiella Pneumoniae ATCC® 13883™ - Antimicrobial activity of 99.8%

Klebsiella Pneumoniae is a bacterium that causes pneumonia, however, it is more involved in infections in the urinary system and in wounds. It has become a growing infection as antibiotic-resistant strains continue to appear.

          4. Pseudomonas Aeruginosa ATCC® 27853™ - Antimicrobial activity of 99.9%

Considered an opportunistic pathogen in humans, this bacterium can infect all parts of the body.

            5. Candida Albicans ATCC® 10231™ - Antimicrobial activity of 98.9%

Candida albicans is a fungus that can become pathogenic under specific conditions. It usually affects individuals who have undergone long antibiotic treatments, prolonged and intense stress or hormonal changes.
