Given the broad spectrum of applications, the same gearbox can work with different loads, which have a direct impact on its service life. The service factor, an essential value when sizing and choosing each gearbox, takes into account operational conditions (such as load variations and hours of operation per day, among others) and defines applications as light, medium or heavy, guaranteeing the appropriate choice of equipment.
It is important to emphasize that each gearbox must have a performance table, which contains the service factors for each type of application.
Light Loads
Utilization with slow starts, uniform loads, and acceleration of small masses. A light load regime is common in fans, power generators and centrifugal pumps.
Medium Loads
Regime with small overloads, irregular operating conditions and acceleration of medium masses. It usually occurs in industrial conveyors with variable loads, food industry machinery and cranes.
Heavy Loads
Extreme overloads, with irregular operating conditions and the need to accelerate heavy masses. Common in compressors and electric pumps with one or more cylinders, milling equipment, mixers or stone working machines.
